“My experience at UTC has been exceptional,” relates Christina Chavez, a senior with a double major in economics and finance and a concurrent minor in Spanish. “I feel that I am gaining a superb education while at the same time I am becoming prepared for the professional world. One thing I think UTC offers that is rare is a support group of professors and staff who are there to assist students in every way possible. I have found that if I only ask there is someone at our college who will help me, whether my problem is finding an internship in India or what to wear to an interview.”

“I chose UTC because it offered a high quality business program at an affordable price,” explains senior Jeff Nastoff, a finance major who intends to relocate to Portland, Oregon, following graduation and pursue a career in the industry. “I believe I am gaining credibility as a qualified and accomplished student with the side benefit of not leaving college with tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt. The College of Business at UTC has put me in touch with some key professors who gave me a great foundation to begin my next challenge, the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation, and a passion for my chosen field and industry.”

“The College of Business at UTC has prepared me for the future, mainly because we have real business men and women as professors teaching our classes,” comments junior Zachary Ferrell, who intends to work in inner city ministry after graduation and eventually to be the founder of a non-profit organization to assist inner city youth. “These are people that have a great amount of experience in their fields, so they are not just teaching you what the book says but how they know that what the book says is right. I believe I am gaining great knowledge and experience at UTC because of the professors and the diversity of the students here. At UTC, you are exposed to different walks of life and really get a diverse college experience. All of my professors are significantly different, which helps you to adapt to different styles. The pure knowledge I am gaining will be very beneficial.”

“UTC has surpassed my expectations of what a college should do for its students,” remarks Chavez, who plans to work as an intern at SunTrust’s headquarters in Atlanta during the summer and then to pursue her MBA degree. “I want to feel that when I enter the job market I am positioned to be as competitive as possible. The College of Business does an excellent job in helping students become prepared to enter the professional world. They offer sessions on networking, proper business etiquette, and much more. It is comforting to feel prepared to go to an interview or to have lunch with a CEO. The college and the professors are regularly letting students know of job and internship opportunities. On top of everything else, the college offers a senior seminar class where they bring professionals from the community to speak to seniors about topics such as getting your first job and how they have climbed the corporate ladder.”
